The Opportunity

Moyne Shire Council is looking for a permanent full-time Team Leader, Education & Care (Centre-Based) based in Port Fairy, VIC.

This role involves overseeing early years programs across the municipality, including direct supervision of services at three centres, and reporting to the Coordinator Education & Care. The position is crucial in ensuring high-quality care and education, compliance with regulations, and fostering strong community relationships.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitating the implementation of care and education programs
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with staff, families and the broader community
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, frameworks, and standards
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assisting in streamlining processes to reduce administrative workload
  • Managing service monitoring, reporting, and regulatory requirements
  • Providing leadership and management to develop staff capabilities
  • Traveling to work from other services under supervision throughout the shire

About You

To qualify, you will need a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or other equivalent qualification as approved by ACECQA. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the early childhood sector will also be essential.

Additionally, if you have a current Driver's License and a satisfactory Police Check and valid Working with Children’s Check or VIT, it will be necessary for this role.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience in Local Government
  • Sound knowledge and implementation experience of the Victorian Early Years Development Framework, Early Years Framework, and the National Quality Standards
  • Demonstrated ability in office administration procedures and coordination
  • Financial management skills and the ability to develop, manage and effectively monitor budgets
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills, including conflict resolution and negotiation skills

As our ideal candidate, you will possess the ability to plan, organise, and manage your own time to achieve targets within set deadlines using self-motivation and resourcefulness. You should have the capacity to listen effectively, respond in a non-judgmental manner, and work harmoniously within a team environment, promoting a team approach. Familiarity with the area or a strong desire to integrate into the community is a must, as is the ability to adjust to different community needs and build strong relationships.

This is a role for a leader who is on the ground, actively involved, and able to have good oversight of services. We are looking for a candidate who can not only meet the basic level of compliance but also has a good rapport with our community, can respond and communicate effectively, and has the ability to coordinate across multiple services.

This position plays a key role as part of the early years leadership team.
